Our 5-day pack trip to Upper Camp with Swan Mountain Outfitters was an incredible experience and one we will never forget. Our guides, Brant and Tyler, were superb. They were extremely knowledgeable, organized, friendly, and always made our safety a priority. Whether we were riding horses and mules, fishing, hiking, or learning about hunting and the Montana wilderness, they took the time to teach us and share their knowledge. They went out of their way to take us places and make sure we experienced everything Upper Camp and the surrounding wilderness had to offer. The conversations came easily, and they made everyone feel welcome and comfortable from the very beginning. The scenery was absolutely spectacular, but it was the people—and the animals—that really made the trip special. A big shout-out to our “Mountain Uber” crew: BP, our wise and dependable horse, along with Muskrat and Cedar the mule. They worked hard and took great care of us throughout the trip. George deserves a special mention as well. There doesn’t seem to be a meal he can’t make! The food was excellent, the cooking and dining area was always spotless, and a good old-fashioned conversation was always on the menu. Between George, Tyler, and Brant, we were very well taken care of. CJ also did an awesome job keeping all of our bags and gear moving to and from camp. Watching him pack everything onto the mules and keep the gear moving through the mountains made a difficult job look easy. What impressed us most was how much effort the entire crew put into making this more than just a horseback trip. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, saw some incredible country, and came away with a much greater appreciation for the Montana wilderness. We would absolutely recommend Swan Mountain Outfitters’ 5-day pack trip to Upper Camp to anyone looking for a true Montana wilderness experience. The spectacular scenery is something you have to see for yourself, but the guides, crew, horses, mules, great food, and conversations are what make the experience unforgettable.
