There are two airports that service this part of western Montana:

  1. Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell, Montana (airline code: FCA)
  2. Missoula International Airport in Missoula, Montana (airline code: MSO)

The airport in Kalispell is about an hour away and is the better choice for those visitors who want to access other areas attractions such as Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park, or the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The airport in Missoula is about an hour and a half away. Prices and schedules for airlines are, broadly speaking, comparable between the two cities and differences aren’t likely to be extreme. However, it’s always worth investigating both options if you are concerned with getting the best bargain.

By Train

Amtrak has train stations in both Whitefish and West Glacier. Be aware that the West Glacier train station has fewer amenities than Whitefish. It may be MUCH easier to obtain a rental car and lodging in Whitefish than in West Glacier. Additionally, the ability for the train’s crew to process checked baggage may be restricted at the West Glacier station.
